Guided Hiking in the Southern Alps (Arthur’s Pass)

Take this great opportunity for a day hike in the stunning high country wilderness of Arthur’s Pass National Park and the South Islands Southern Alps.  After the scenic Trans Alpine train journey into Arthur’s Pass National Park. Your guide will lead you on your 4 hour hike up the beautiful Bealey Valley, experience several different ecosystems, from lush beech forest, alpine wetlands and sub alpine herbfields. As you walk your guide will introduce you to the unique flora and fauna, encouraging you to touch, taste and smell!

The best views of Mount Rolleston and the surrounding glaciers will be out on the Bealey River bed as you continue up to the sub alpine zone. In the right season you will be surrounded by Mount Cook Lilies, Mountain Daisies and other flowers in full bloom. We will stop along the way for a hearty lunch and hot drinks in full view of Mount Rolleston. After the walk and a few of the local sites, you will travel back to Christchurch by road through the Canterbury high country and plains.
