Air New Zealand

Air New Zealand has grown into one of the world’s most recognised airlines, it is the national airline and flag carrier of New Zealand. Based in Auckland, New Zealand, the airline operates scheduled passenger flights to 27 domestic destinations and 26 international destinations in 14 countries across Asia, Europe, North America and Oceania.

The Koru
The Air New Zealand Māori symbol is a koru. It is a stylised representation of a fern frond unfolding, and signifies new life, growth and renewal. The koru was used on the prows of the early Polynesian canoes that sailed the Pacific with its many islands and was first applied to the tail of Air New Zealand aircraft with the arrival of the DC-10 in 1973, and has remained ever since.

Star Alliance
Air New Zealand is a member of the Star Alliance global airline alliance, having joined in 1999.

Seating Options
NEW Economy Skycouch
Whether you’re a couple who’d like a bit of extra room, parents with a young child or a parent with two restless kids, you’ll find the innovative new Economy Skycouch is the perfect solution. The Economy Skycouch will be available on the new 777-300 aircraft and will be flying on selected services to and from London (via LA) from April 2011.

The Skycouch is a trio of three Economy seats that together create a flexible space for whatever you want it to be – an area to relax and stretch out in, or for the kids to use as a play area. It’s like having your very own daybed on the plane.

The seats themselves are Economy seats with armrests that disappear into the back of the seat. There’s also a cup holder, a winged headrest and a sleep pillow on every seat. What makes the Skycouch different to other Economy seats is the way the trio of seats transform. With a touch of a button, a footrest will come out from under each of the three seats which you can pull up to create a flat, flexible space for you to use however you like. By booking this three-wide seat space, you really can get the most from your long-haul flying experience.

Please note the seats in our Business Class on 767 and A320 aircraft are different – very comfortable but not the lie flat bed.
